FAQs
This collection gets its inspiration from the peaceful rolling hillsides and winding roads found in rural regions throughout Europe. For centuries, people living in the European countryside have been inspired by the natural beauty of their surroundings. From the stone walls and slate roofs of traditional French farmhouses to the terracotta tiles and stucco walls of Italian villas, the architecture of the European countryside reflects a deep connection to the land and a respect for its natural beauty.
European Countryside features wet-cast concrete field tiles and natural stone mosaics and field tiles. The concrete field tiles are available in an Arabesque, Scallop and Square patterns. There are three color options: Tuscan, a warm beige paying homage to Italy; Provence, an elegant light grey inspired by France; and Catalan, a tribute to Spain in a darker sophisticated grey. All have a weathered limestone finish.
There are two natural stone options – Calacatta Oro and Venetian Beige. Calacatta Oro has a white base with gold veining. These mosaics have a tumbled brushed finish. The fluted field tile has a worn-honed finish. Venetian Beige has a cream/beige base with white veining. The fluted field tile has a soft honed finish, the other fields have a smooth brushed finish.
Whether used in a rustic farmhouse kitchen or a sleek modern bathroom, European Countryside brings a touch of enchantment to any space. The neutral color palette works well with an array of styles and can be made modern or traditional with complementing furniture and accessories.
It is important that installation instructions are closely followed when installing concrete tiles from this collection. Proper installation ensures longevity and helps maintain the look of tiles. The following manuals can be found on our website to aid in installation: Chapter 19 European Countryside Outline, Concrete Tile Installation Details, Concrete Tile Floor Installation Recommendations, Concrete Tile Wall Installation Recommendations, Concrete Cleaning & Maintenance Tips, and the Concrete Sealing Guide.
Outdoor installations in freeze-thaw climates may be appropriate if pertinent installation instructions are followed diligently. Installations in these environments are more demanding so the installer must follow all installation instructions closely.
If salt is used to melt snow/ice, it is important to note that the salt will eat away at concrete over time (like natural stone and poured concrete). Concrete tiles are not recommended for submerged applications. Installing around the pool, e.g., coping or decking is acceptable.
Concrete tiles are porous, like natural stone. If items are properly sealed at install and resealed regularly, thereafter, they will maintain their appearance. Some patina should be expected over time. If resealing is not done consistently, tiles will absorb the environment and show color changes.
For Concrete specific instructions and recommendations refer to the Chapter 19 Outline, Concrete Tile Installation Details, Concrete Tile Floor Installation Recommendations, Concrete Tile Wall Installation Recommendations, Concrete Cleaning & Maintenance Tips, and the Concrete Sealing Guide.
